Unfortunately, we all face changes in our lives
and ours certainly had many. Our business faced many struggles over the
last 3 years from serious illnesses, and death, to customers who's
businesses closed leaving us holding substantial amounts of money on
our books. Couple this with a major retail chain with no business
ethics or morals who, after 20 years of unparalleled service and
efforts opted to copy our work and products
and claim it as their own. This left hundreds of our staff
overseas with no work and we had bills due there as well. It
became a very tough struggle financially and emotionally.
Despite a lot of strong efforts and many, many hours of work, we have
made the difficult decision to close our business.
Domestically, we had already set up Petersen-Arne as our wholesale

overseas operations were turned over to a good friend and fellow
export/import owner and operator. He has more ability than we
had and will grow the business differently than we were able.
To be quite honest, when my assistant Cheryl was diagnosed with
cancer and we struggled with her for over a year only to watch her
pass away, my struggle with the company also was lost. A lot
of reality hit home for me and the importance of life and family
came to the forefront. The amount of hours I was working and
the time lost with my family along the way become far more clear.
The obvious realization slapped me in the face that success is not
about how many hours we work or how much money we have or reaching
what we think is the ultimate business goal. Family and their
love is much more what we should strive toward to really know true
success.
Putting God first with our family is now where our hearts and our
minds have rested.
